Below - # 11 prepares in the morning fog for its first run of the day.

Six and half miles long, hauling potatoes, syrup, coffins, and people, just to name a few. This train ran from the little town of Bristol down to New Haven.
The trip down to New Haven could take as little as 18 minutes, however the trip back up to Bristol took much longer, especially after an additional freight car or two were added

The hardest part of  building anything to do with the Bristol railroad would be getting your hands on the number #1 engine.   After weeks of searching in vain for a Forney 0-4-4T, like the one shown below left. It was clear I would have to scratch build it, or at least hack up something similar.  I decided to use an old 0-4-0 I had stashed in a bottom drawer.

Special Thanks to Bristol Vermont's Historical Society folks
Jim Cunningham and Gerald L. Heffernan, they have provided much of  the information along with many photos. Also to world Renown train expert Robert C Jones who's 2001 article in Model Railroad Craftsman helped tremendously in the layout the Bristol RR.

After receiving a few better photos of the Bristol #1
I began again to replicate this old engine.

By far the best photo of the Bristol #1 that I have found in 3 years of looking.
These fellows mean business, I would love to know the story behind this photo?
