Rail Fanning in
Richmond Virginia

I've passed by this neat station dozens of times without ever
actually stopping.
Not this time.
Recently while visiting family up in Woodbridge Va. I had an
afternoon to kill. I decided to take up my nieces husbands
offer to tour around Richmond for Railroad sites of interest.
Being born and raised in Richmond he assured me that there were some
interesting places to see.
As if on queue a caravan of maint vehicles paraded by on the lower
track blasting their horns every so often.
The maint vehicles proceeded by me, and then down this lower track
to vanish behind the flood wall to the left.
Looking to the far left the over head track heads south along I95.
Looking North the track runs into the Station.
This old bridge is just a block down from the triple cross over.
After being told that very little traffic crosses this bridge we set
out to view it from both ends. Within 5 minutes of re-crossing
this bridge the maint vehicles came out of no where to cross the
very bridge.
Lucky Strikes Building beyond the elevated track.
What appears to be a remodeled interlocking tower resides in the
middle of the Canal street market area. This is just a block
from the Elevated Station.
Old Seaboard Tower. This tower overlooks a small CSX yard on
the the south side of the Richmond.
Looking back Northwards
from the tower.
After making the climb up the tower steps I found it over looking
the entrance into a CSX yard.
Old Dominion Museum.
Closed during the week! This building was totally under water in the
early 1970's after the flooding
Just a block up the canal was a small industry.
Still working, however I was that this told facility no longer
belonged to SS.
Notice the flood walls along and in front of this industry now.

Looking back from the bridge you can spot this small yard, but
finding it was not so easy.
East to access the CSX ACCA yard, however if you want you shots you
will need to cross back over the highway and follow along the on the
other side in between industries.
